The Big Moon

Founded in 2014 by lead singer Juliette Jackson, guitarist Soph Nathan, drummer Fern Ford and bassist Celia Archer, London-based indie rock quartet The Big Moon rapidly ascended to prominence in 2015 off the back of extensive live performances and releases on independent labels Handsome Dad and Heart Throb Records. Headlining DIY Magazine’s first UK tour the same year and later premiering the visuals for “Nothing About You” via indie taste-makers Stereogum, they soon found themselves signed to Universal imprint Fiction Records, with whom they promptly released a debut EP, The Road, in April 2016. The following year, several songs from the EP were repurposed for use on the band’s debut album, Love in the 4th Dimension, which entered the UK Albums Chart at number 66 and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Following a quiet spell for the group in 2018 which saw Nathan release the debut album from her side project Our Girl, The Big Moon reconvened in 2019 for their first live performance in a year, a set at Glastonbury Festival in which they debuted then-unheard material from their sophomore album, Walking Like We Do. The LP, which was produced in its entirety by GRAMMY Award-winner Ben H. Allen, was released in January 2020. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number nineteen and the Scottish Albums Chart at number twelve, marking a new record for the group.
