Neo-psychedelic rockers The Black Angels were formed in Austin, Texas in 2004 and since then have recorded five studio albums, all of which were well received by critics and fans. Their name comes from the Velvet Underground track 'The Black Angel's Death Song' and reflects the dark lyrical content and brooding, atmospheric nature of their music. Technically accomplished as musicians, The Black Angles occupy a niche increasingly growing in popularity promoted by artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, The Warlocks and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Despite the band's modest creative output, their music began to be discovered by film and TV writers quite early on in their career and used in soundtracks. This exposure has been one of the platforms upon which the band's success has been built. In 2010 they collaborated with experimental hip-hop band UNKLE on the track 'With You in My Head' which was subsequently featured in the multi-million dollar grossing film 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'. This high profile publicity no doubt contributed to the band's next album 'Phosphene Dream' which broke into the top 50 of the Billboard Charts. The band continue to tour and perform and have become a regular attraction at Austin's popular Psych Fest.
