Formed by businessman and musician David Lowy (eldest son of Westfield Corporation co-founder Frank Lowy) and New Zealand Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens, The Dead Daisies are a supergroup featuring musicians from bands including Guns N' Roses, Whitesnake and The Rolling Stones. They released their self-titled debut album in 2013, bursting onto the scene with lead single "Lock N' Load" written by Slash who also played guitar. The band's first tour saw them open for ZZ Top and they later played alongside Aerosmith on their tours of Australia and New Zealand. By this time, Lowy and Stevens had been joined by three former Guns N' Roses members - drummer Frank Ferrer, guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed, and bassist Marco Mendoza of Whitesnake. Later in 2013, the band crossed the Atlantic to tour with Black Star Riders. They recruited Divinyls drummer Charley Drayton and Rolling Stones collaborator bassist Darryl Jones to complete the lineup. They toured the United States with Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd in early 2014, followed by the Heroes Tour with Kiss and Def Leppard later that year. Their new drummer, John Tempesta of The Cult, then joined them. In late 2014, they released the EP Face I Love, featuring a cover of the Beatles' song "Helter Skelter". Their second album RevoluciĆ³n was released in 2015, along with the announcement that John Corabi would be taking over as lead singer, Stevens having decided to step down. Fortus and Reed also left the band shortly after, opting to join Guns N' Roses' Not in This Lifetime tour, with Burning Rain guitarist Doug Aldrich replacing them. With this new lineup, they released their third album Make Some Noise in 2016 and toured extensively, playing mainly European festivals. During their festival appearances, they recorded the live album Live & Louder which they released in 2017, featuring 16 live tracks and a DVD of behind-the-scenes footage from the tour. Burnt It Down was released in 2018, before touring on a number of occasions until the Covid-19 pandemic. Further changes in lineup occurred with the arrival of ex-Deep Purple Glenn Hughes on bass in 2019 and drummer Tommy Clufetos in 2021, the year the album Holy Ground was released. In 2023, Hughes was replaced by Michael Devin, while John Corabi returned as vocalist for the recording of Light 'Em Up (2024).
