The Dears

Formed in 1995, Montreal band The Dears is inspired by the rock lyricism of The Smiths and the orchestral pop of Serge Gainsbourg. Anglophone and Francophile, their albums and concerts have received excellent reviews, although they failed to win over a wide audience with the releases of No Cities Left in 2003 and Gang of Losers in 2006. The band, led by husband-and-wife team Murray Lightburn and Natalia Yanchak, went on to release Missiles (2008) and the electric Degeneration Streeet (2011).
