Singer Anneke van Giersbergen and guitarist Arjen Anthony Lucassen are two sacred monsters of symphonic and progressive metal. The Dutch singer has already collaborated on the talented multi-instrumentalist and composer's albums Into the Electric Castle (1998) and 01011001 (2008). In April 2014, they decided to create a joint project called The Gentle Storm. In March 2015, these two exceptional artists gave birth to a double album that is bound to be out of the ordinary. The Diary is a double album, the first disc of which is symphonic metal and the second disc of which contains the same songs in a folk metal version. A brilliant exercise in style that earned The Diary a place in the French charts.
