The Grascals are a Grammy-nominated bluegrass band known for their masterful musicianship, tight harmonies, and innovative blend of traditional bluegrass with modern country influences. Formed in 2004 in Nashville, Tennessee, the group quickly rose to prominence, earning a reputation as one of the leading acts in contemporary bluegrass. The band’s original lineup included seasoned musicians who had played with some of the biggest names in country and bluegrass music, including Dolly Parton, who gave the Grascals their big break by inviting them to tour with her. This collaboration helped launch their career, with their self-titled debut album released in 2005, featuring Dolly Parton on the track "Viva Las Vegas." The album was critically acclaimed and earned them the International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) Emerging Artist of the Year award. The Grascals’ music is marked by its seamless combination of traditional bluegrass instrumentation—banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass—with modern country flair. Known for their soulful vocals and impressive instrumental solos, they deliver both heartfelt ballads and high-energy, foot-stomping tunes that appeal to both bluegrass purists and new fans alike. Over the years, they have released several successful albums, including Long List of Heartaches (2006), Life Finds a Way (2012), and And Then There's This... (2016), earning multiple International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards, including Entertainer of the Year. The band have gone through various lineup changes but consistently maintained their high level of musicianship and strong connection to their bluegrass roots. Their ability to honour traditional sounds while pushing the genre forward has kept them at the forefront of the bluegrass scene, performing at major festivals and venues across the country. With a prolific output, they have released albums at a consistent rate over the years of their existence, including Up All Night in 2021 and 20 in 2024.
