The Greeting Committee is a four-piece indie pop band from Kansas City, Missouri. Formed in 2014 by high school classmates Addison Sartino (vocals), Brandon Yangmi (guitar), Pierce Turcotte (bass), and Austin Fraser (drums), they made their live debut at a talent show in 2014. The following year, they independently released their debut EP It’s Not All That Bad, which caught the attention of local radio host Lazlo Geiger through its lead single “Hands Down.” A jangly pop reverie, the track was on heavy rotation at Kansas City’s KRBZ and helped the band land a record deal with the Los Angeles-based Harvest Records, who re-released the EP later that year. 2016 found The Greeting Committee playing Lollapalooza and SXSW for the first time, and touring with like-minded indie acts like Kitten, The Mowgli’s, and Judah & The Lion. Preceded by the singles “Elise” and “She’s a Gun,” a second EP titled Meeting People Is Easy saw the light in 2017 and was followed by their studio debut This Is It in 2018 and the EP I’m Afraid I’m Not Angry in 2019.
