The Hellacopters are a rock band from Sweden who formed in 1994 and became known for their fast, melodic sleaze rock which mixed in elements of classic rock 'n' roll. The founding members include former Entombed drummer Nicke Andersson as singer and guitarist as well as the three former Entombed roadies: Kenny HÃ¥kansson on bass, Robert Erickson on drums and Dregen on guitar. The latter member also played guitar in the Swedish band Backyard Babies. In 1996, the band released their debut album Supershitty to the Max! which went straight to number 32 in the Swedish charts. The follow-up Payin' the Dues climbed to number 19 in 1997, and the band's fame grew both at home in Sweden and internationally. Albums such as Grande Rock (1999) and High Visibility (2000) contributed to this. The Hellacopters were even recruited as opening acts for the Rolling Stones and Kiss. With the albums By the Grace of God (2002, number 2 in Sweden) and Rock & Roll Is Dead (2005, number 3 in Sweden), the rockers achieved top positions in their Swedish homeland. However, in 2007 the Hellacopters announced their decision to split up following the release of Head Off. Their final LP was released in 2008 and reached number 4, accompanied by a major European farewell tour. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album Supershitty to the Max! the band reunited for several concerts and festivals. New studio material followed in 2022 with Eyes of Oblivion, which jumped to number 1 in the charts in Sweden and also reached top positions internationally, including number 3 in Germany. Two years later, the Hellacopters released the album Grande Rock Revisited.
