The Hot Sardines

The Hot Sardines are an American Dixieland jazz band formed in New York in 2007 by French-born singer Elizabeth Bourgerol and American pianist Evan Palazzo. In a short time they garnered major praise from critics and audiences for their enthusiastic embrace of traditional jazz performed with an ever-changing aggregation of musicians. Trumpeter Jason Prover, drummer Alex Raderman, clarinetist and saxophonist Nick Myers, bassist and sousaphonist Evan Crane and tapdancer Fast Eddie Francisco joined them for live performances and they made a big splash when they played at Midsummer Night's Swing at New York's Lincoln Center in 2011. Their debut album 'Shanghai'd' came out in 2011 and they began to perform regular at Joe's Pub in Manhattan. 'Comes Love' was released in 2013 followed by 'The Hot Sardines' Lowdown Little Christmas Record' with 'Sardine 3: Frolicking at the Playground' and 'Live at Joe's Pub' in 2014. Their eponymous album in 2014 also featured Dave Eggar on cello, Joe McDonough on trombone, Sam 'Fez' Raderman on banjo and guitar and Entcho Todorov on violin. 'The Hot Sardines' went to number four on Billboard's Jazz Albums Chart. They have performed at the Montreal International Jazz Club, the Rainbow Room in New York's Rockefeller Center and the Purcell Room on London's South Bank. Regulars on the Turner Classic Music Crews, their latest album 'French Fries + Champagne' went to number two on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart in 2016. The video of their track 'Bei Mir Bist du Schoen' from 'The Hot Sardines' album had more than two million views on YouTube on New Year's Eve 2017 and it was featured on the soundtrack of the remake of the feature film 'Papillon' starring Remi Malek and Charlie Hunnum released in 2018.
