The Juliana Hatfield Three

The Juliana Hatfield Three is a rock band that was active during the mid-1990s and again in the mid-2010s, with lead vocalist and guitarist Juliana Hatfield, bassist Dean Fisher, and drummer Todd Philips. The band achieved their commercial breakthrough in 1993 with the release of the album Become What You Are, which included the hit singles "My Sister" and "Spin the Bottle." The song "My Sister" was inspired by Hatfield's older brother's girlfriend, Maggie Rafferty, who lived with the family while Hatfield was in high school. Rafferty introduced Hatfield to a diverse range of music through her record collection and took her to see live shows by bands such as the Del Fuegos and the Violent Femmes. "Spin the Bottle" gained further exposure when it was featured on the soundtrack of the film Reality Bites in 1994.
