The Kelly Family is a music group made up of members of the extended Kelly family. Their musical style is based in the areas of folk, pop and rock, and their repertoire includes English, but also German, French and Spanish-language titles. After initially calling themselves the Kelly Kids from 1974, the siblings began touring the USA and Europe as street musicians under the name The Kelly Family in 1978. They were discovered during a street concert and received their first record deal in 1979. Within the next year, the family made guest appearances on various television programs and became known to a wide audience. With "Who'll Come with Me (David's Song)", the Kelly Family scored their first number one hit in the Netherlands and Belgium in 1980. In the following years, they mainly toured France and America and also released the album Une Famille C'est Une Chanson in France in 1984 on Barclay Records. Further albums such as Honest Workers (1991) and Wow (1993) were sold by the group, which now consisted of nine siblings, mainly at free street concerts in Germany and Europe. in 1994, their album Over the Hump achieves the final commercial breakthrough and reaches the top of the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In November 1998, the studio album From Their Hearts is released, reaching number 3 in the German charts. To mark the Kosovo war, the group released the charity single "The Children of Kosovo" in June 1999, which made it into the top ten. With Patricia, Jimmy, Joey, Paddy, Maite and Angelo, only six band members remain on stage together from 2000 onwards, but La Patata still reaches number 3 in the charts in 2002, while Homerun reaches the top ten. As they got older, the siblings developed their own individual styles, worked as solo artists or withdrew from the public eye. In October 2019, the family released the album 25 Years Later, which contains newly recorded original tracks as well as previously unreleased songs and reached number 2 in the German album charts.
