The Musical Box

The tribute band craze is easy to explain. Firstly, there are the nostalgics who want to revisit the concerts of their youth, and then there are those who missed out on some of the great bands of the past and console themselves with a re-creation. The Musical Box, named after the sublime opening track of 1971's Nursery Cryme, is a Canadian band entirely devoted to reproducing Genesis shows. The adventure began in 1993 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Selling England by the Pound. The band went on to invent the early Genesis period with the perfectly recreated shows Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot. With singer Denis Gagné fully immersed in the role of Peter Gabriel, and with the agreement and support of Genesis, The Musical Box created a sensation in 2000 with a revival of the legendary show The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. The Musical Box continues its exploration of the Genesis universe in 2008 with the post-Peter Gabriel period and A Trick of the Tail. In 2011 and 2012, by popular demand, The Musical Box resumes its tour based on The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
