The Story So Far is best known for albums like 2015's The Story So Far and 2018's Proper Dose, both of which reached the Top 40 in America. The pop-punk band formed in Walnut Creek, California, in 2007. Singer Parker Cannon, drummer Ryan Torf, bassist Kelen Capener, and guitarists Kevin Geyer and Kevin Ambrose named their band after a New Found Glory song, and The Story So Far's earliest recordings featured a similar blend of punky guitars and bright, sunny pop hooks. Those recordings included the group's debut EP, 5 Songs, as well as their full-length debut album, 2011's Under Soil and Dirt. What You Don't See followed in 2013 and became the band's first album to reached the Billboard 200, where it topped out at number 46. The record fared even better on the Alternative Albums chart, where it reached number 8, as well as the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart, where it peaked at Number 1. The Story So Far followed in 2015 and became the band's second album to reach Number 1 on Vinyl Albums, while 2018's Proper Dose marked The Story So Far's career-high peak on the Billboard 200, hitting number 19. Proper Dose also found the band widening their sound, incorporating elements of indie rock. A similar mix of influences ran throughout The Story So Far's 2024 release, I Want to Disappear.
