Shazam is the extraordinary music recognition software found on Apple's iPhone 3G, among other devices. Since its launch on an iphone advert, it has been used to discover the band The Submarines. The ad features part of their song "You, Me and the Bourgeoisie", from the album Honeysuckle Weeks. The Submarines thus went from psychedelic obscurity to cathode-ray stardom. Unknown to the general public before the Shazam/iPhone spot, The Submarines released Declare a New State! in 2006 and Honeysuckle Weeks in 2008. The Submarines say, thank you Shazam, thank you iPhone.
