Formed in London in 1983, The Woodentops rose to fame with the album Giant (1986), following a series of singles and EPs. Considered one of the jewels in the crown of the decade, the album, with its varied, acoustic sounds and the title "(Love Affair With) Everyday Living", was followed by the live testimony Hypno Beat Live (1987), recorded in Los Angeles. The electronic turn of Wooden Foot Cops on the Highway, released in 1988, baffled the public and precipitated the end of the band, which continued to tour until its split in 1992. Returning in 2006 and 2009, The Woodentops recorded the album Granular Tales, released in 2014.
