Country artist Tim Dugger launched his career at college bars and small venues in the American southeast, often booking shows to coincide with local NASCAR races. Born in Roanoke, Alabama, he grew up singing in church. Dugger turned to country music as a teenager, began playing clubs in western Georgia, and released his debut single, "Way Past By Beer Time," in 2011. The follow-up single "Tennessee" followed in 2012, the same year he left his native Alabama and relocated to the country music capital of Nashville, Tennessee. Living in Nashville didn't keep Dugger from hitting the road often, where he regularly played the NASCAR circuit and became a favorite not only amongst racing enthusiasts, but also amongst NASCAR drivers like Richard Childress. Racing culture began to show up in the lyrics of his songs, too, including several of the tracks that appeared on his debut EP, Beer on a Boat, in 2015. Produced by Jim Ed Norman, Beer on a Boat marked his debut for Curb Records. Dugger continued to build his audience on the road for years, eventually returning to the studio for a second EP, Signs of a Good Time, which was produced by Brandon Hood and released in 2020. "You're Gonna Love Me" went viral that same year, earning millions of plays on digital platforms and setting the stage for another multi-million streaming single, "Heart of a Small Town," in 2022. "Buy a Bar" followed in 2023 and earned Dugger his first genuine hit on the charts, debuting at number 55 on Top 60 Radio Country Songs that summer.
