Tocotronic are an institution. From their beginnings in the "Hamburger Schule" to their outstanding status in the German feuilleton: Tocotronic are always clever, poetic, sincere, annoyed and humorous. Punk meets beautiful lyrics full of references, e.g. Proust, Mark E. Smith and Éric Rohmer. Dirk von Lowtzow, Jan Müller and Arne Zank release their first album Digital Ist Besser in 1995, followed by Nach Der Verlorenen Zeit (1995), Wir Kommen Um Uns Zu Beschweren (1996) and Es Ist Egal, Aber (1997) - the Hamburg Years, if you like, which is also the title of a compilation album in 1998. K.O.O.K. is released in 1999 and also comes out as an English version (2000) and with variations (2000). Tocotronic is released in 2002 and contains the single "This Boy Is Tocotronic" (2002). in 2004, the US-American Richard Arthur "Rick" McPhail joins the band. Pure Vernunft Darf Niemals Siegen (2005) with the single "Aber Hier Leben Nein Danke" is released in 2005. The poetic Kapitulation sees the light of day in 2007, Schall und Wahn follows in 2010 and Wie Wir Leben Wollen in 2013. 2015 sees the release of Tocotronic (Das Rote Album), Die Unendlichkeit in 2018 and Nie Wieder Krieg in 2022.
