Thomas Mackenzie Bell, popularly known as Toddla T, is an iconic figure in the English music scene. Born on 22 February 1985 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Toddla T's passion for music ignited early. At just 14, he spun records in Sheffield's bustling nightlife, and by 16, he had left school, determined to make a mark in the music world. The name "Toddla T" was a nod from older Sheffield DJs, recognizing his youthful talent. His studio debut Skanky Skanky, released in May 2009 on 1965 Records, is a kaleidoscope of hip-hop, electro, garage, dancehall, and house. This work saw collaborations with renowned artists like Matt Helders, Benjamin Zephaniah, Roots Manuva, Tinchy Stryder, and many more. Later, his association with the famed London nightclub Fabric led to a distinct mix album. From touring clubs and festivals globally to holding a quarterly residency at XOYO, running a soundsystem at the Notting Hill Carnival, to helming a weekly show on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, and the BBC Asian Network, his influence is widespread. He's both a producer and a collaborator, having worked with legends like Roots Manuva, Skepta, Wiley, and producing hits like "Strike a Pose" and "Ain't It Different." After signing with the Ninja Tune label in 2010, Toddla T delivered a string of well-received releases that continued to push the boundaries of electronic music, including Watch Me Dance (2011), the EPs On Acid (2014) and Kensal Road (2015), Foreign Lights (2017), and OUT:SIDE (2022). "Hide N Seek," a collaborative effort with rapper Aitch and singer TAET, arrived in 2023 and entered the Top 100 of the English streaming charts.
