Tony An is a K-pop star who became famous thanks to his role in the boy band H.O.T.. The group was formed in 1996 by producer Lee Soo-man, bringing together Kangta, Moon Hee-joon, Lee Jae-won and finally Tony after an audition in Los Angeles. Their debut album, 'We Hate All Kinds of Violence', was a success with over 1.5 million sales. It led to several follow-ups over the next half a decade, culminating in the chart-topping album 'Outside Castle'. The group split in 2001 following a disagreement with SM Entertainment. An, Jae-won and Woo-hyuk formed a new group, jtL, this time with a focus on dance music. The new trio's debut album, 'Enter the Dragon', topped the South Korean charts though it failed to match the sales highs of H.O.T.. Two more albums followed before the group unofficially disbanded in 2003. From there, An went solo and shifted to soft rock, releasing the album 'Volume 1 - Believe' in 2004 and 'Volume 2 - Yutzpracachia's Love' in 2006. In 2018 An was reunited with the other members of H.O.T. on the South Korean variety show 'Infinite Challenge'.
