Top Combine

Top Combine is a Mandopop boy band formed in Shanghai, China in 2007. The group consists of members Bird Zhang, Mars Ma, Kenny Liu, Caesar Li, and Tanas Kim. Originally, four of the members (Bird Zhang, Mars Ma, Kenny Liu and Caesar Li) had competed on the television show Super Boy in May 2007, recording their pre-debut single “Kiss” after the show had ended, which they performed at the Super Boy concert in Shanghai. With support from South Korea's DoReMi Media, they went to South Korea in October 2007 for vocal and dance training and in 2008, they added Kim Eun-sung (Tanas Kim), a Korean trainee, to the group. Marketed as China's Number One Motivational Boy Band, Top Combine made their debut with the single, “Arrival,” appearing on China's Top 10 Charts on September 8, 2008, just six days after their official debut, reaching number three. Their debut EP, Arrival, released in China on October 26, 2008, gained considerable momentum with “Cotton Candy,” becoming a huge hit, winning an award at Music Radio China's Pop Music Ceremony in Beijing. On December 13, 2009, Top Combine released their first full-length record, Grandness Equal to Heaven, followed by the EP Lucky Boys on April 28, 2011. After Caesar Li left the group on September 20, 2012, to pursue an acting career, the remaining members released their fourth EP Luck, You Are Here in October that year, which they followed with 4our Men in 2014 before eventually disbanding. In September 2023, their hit song “Cotton Candy” saw a resurgence in popularity, charting at number 54 on the Chinese charts.
