Tourist LeMC is the stage name of Flemish rapper Johannes Faes, born on October 9, 1984. He is mostly known for singing in his native Antverpian dialect. A Schoten native, he made his debut in 2010 with the album Antwerps Testament, which featured production by Kinetic and Yello Staelens. Two years later, Tourist LeMC made it to the finals of the music competition Humo’s Rock Rally. In 2013, an extended edition of Antwerps Testament was reissued by the Dutch hip-hop label TopNotch, featuring the single “Visa Paspor” with rapper Typhoon. He followed up with the EPs Bilan and Deze Nacht in 2014, paving the way for his incredibly successful 2015 sophomore effort En Route. The album reached Number 2 on the Flemish Ultratop 50 and both its title track and the single “De Troubadours” with Flip Kowlier broke into the Belgian Top 10. It was also certified platinum twice by the BEA and earned Tourist LeMC two Music Industry awards in the category of Best Dutch Singer and Breakthrough of the Year in 2016. Produced by Youssef Chellak, his third album We Begrijpen Mekaar arrived in 2018 and soon rose to the top of the charts, obtaining gold certification shortly after. Another chart-topper followed in 2021 with Niemandsland, a star-studded album featuring guest appearances by Meskerem Mees, Bert Ostyn, and Wally.
