Tristesse Contemporaine

Tristesse Contemporaine, an international trio with a passion for new wave, is based in Paris. Formed in 2009, the group includes a Japanese singer, a Swedish singer and an Englishman of Jamaican descent. The group's name comes from the book Tristesse Contemporaine, written by nineteenth-century Belgian Hippolyte Fierens Gevaert. The trio emerged from obscurity in 2012 with the EP I Didn't Know in January and the album Tristesse Contemporaine in March. Stay Golden succeeded the following year, and Tristesse Contemporaine began their musical moult at the same time, moving away from the new wave of their beginnings and turning towards the luminous side of electro. This process continues on Stop And Start, released in January 2017.
