One of the most popular acts to emerge from Uruguay's punk rock scene, Trotsky Vengarán was formed in Montevideo in 1991 by singer Guillermo Peluffo, guitarists Hugo Díaz and Ignacio Guasch, bass player Marcelo Abreu, and drummer Guillermo Perazzo. Heavily influenced by groups like AC/DC, Sex Pistols, and Beastie Boys, as well as by the first wave of hardcore punk bands, they made their official debut in 1994 with the album Salud, Dinero y Dinero, followed by their first massive show opening for The Ramones later that year. After releasing their sophomore effort Clase B in 1996, Trotsky Vengarán signed with Universal Records and delivered their third studio full-length Yo No Fui (1998), followed by their breakthrough album, the Jaime Roos-produced Durmiendo Afuera (2000), which yielded some of their biggest hits, including "El Alma en 2," "Orsai," and "La Cruz." Over the next few years, the band continued to fine-tune their socially conscious brand of punk rock on releases such as Todo lo Contrario (2002), 7 Veces Mal (2005), Hijo del Rigor (2006), Volumen 10 (2008), Todo Para Ser Feliz (2010), Cielo Salvaje (2013), Relajo Pero Con Orden (2016), and Los Valientes (2018). Besides their studio efforts, they are also known for their high-energy live shows, some of which have been captured on the LPs Pogo (2003), No Estamos Solos (2007), Juegues Donde Juegues (2015), and Noche de Rock en Medallo (2020), recorded in Medellín in 2019. In 2022, Trotsky Vengarán returned once again with the singles "El Comienzo del Final" and "Todo Está Por Pasar," both released via Bizarro Records.
