The symphonic power metal band Twilight Force was formed in 2011 by Swedish musicians Philip Lindh and Daniel Beckman. Based in the Swedish cities of Borlänge and Falun, the band embraced not only the orchestral textures and classical influences of power metal, but also the medieval costumes of role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. Furthermore, the band's lyrics were inspired by The Twilight Kingdoms, a fictional world created by Beckman. Tales of Ancient Prophecies marked the band's official debut in 2014, with bassist Dunder Björn Lundqvist, guitarist Jocke Leandro Johansson, drummer Daniel Sjögren, and vocalist Christian Eriksson joining the band's two co-founders. The record hit Number 29 on Sweden's Sverigetopplistan chart and was supported with a month-long European tour alongside the British band Gloryhammer. Heroes of Mighty Magic followed in 2016, hitting Number 44 on the Swedish charts and Number 54 in Germany. Twilight Force's lineup began to shift following the album's release, which vocalist Alessandro Conti joining the band in time for 2019's Dawn of the Dragonstar. The record reached Number 36 in the band's homeland and Number 43 in Germany. Isak Olsson replaced Daniel Sjögren as the group's drummer in 2019. Four years later, Twilight Force released its fourth studio album, At the Heart of Wintervale.
