Tycho

Scott Hansen, aka Tycho, is a producer, composer and musician renowned for his ambient music. Hansen grew up listening to rock until he discovered DJ Bulkan, Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow whilst at university studying computer science. He started self-releasing drum & bass tracks in 2002, but embraced broader influences and developed a sparse, meandering synth sound on debut album 'Past Is Prologue' (2006), which critics categorised as IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). He gained more attention when his tracks were used regularly by the Adult Swim TV network and began playing with a live backing band in 2010, helping to expand his horizons on albums 'Drive' (2011) and 'Awake' (2014). Recording his 2016 album 'Epoch' in a more isolated studio changed the dynamic and feel of the music and the album topped the Billboard Electronic Charts and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He followed this success with 'Weather' in 2019, charting at number three on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart; the album earned him another Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. In 2020 he released his sixth studio album, 'Simulcast'.
