The US hip-hop duo $uicideboy$ consists of cousins $lick Sloth ($crim) and Ruby Da Cherry, who formed in New Orleans in 2014. Before Ruby got into hip-hop, he played in various punk bands. $crim, on the other hand, previously made music as a DJ. In their tracks, the rappers address topics such as their difficult childhood, drugs, depression, and suicide using a backdrop of atmospheric horrorcore-tinged beats. After their formation, the duo released their first EP Kill Yourself Part I: The Suicide Saga. The following year, they went on the Greyscale Tour together with Jgrxxn, Black Smurf, and Rymirxz. This was followed in 2016 by the $outh $ide $uicide Tour with Craig Xen, Pouya, and XXXTentacion, among others, as well as tours of Oceania and Europe. Their studio debut I Want to Die in New Orleans was released in 2018 and reached number 9 in the US and number 89 on the German charts. The EP Live Fast Die Whenever, recorded together with Travis Barker and Korn's James Shaffer, followed a year later. $uicideboy$ achieved renewed success with their 2021 album Long Term Effects of Suffering, which featured the songs "Degeneration in the Key of A Minor" and "Life is but a Stream." The album peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200 while also charting in Australia, Canada, and several European countries. Its follow-up album, Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation, also cracked the Top 10 in the US and was certified gold by the RIAA. That year, the duo also collaborated with Germ on the EP DirtiestNastiest$uicide. 2023 saw the release of the EPs Shameless $uicide with Shakewell and the Memphis rap-inspired Yin Yang Tapes: Spring Season (1989–1990). In 2024, $uicideboy$ unveiled their fourth LP New World Depression.
