Japanese pop and rock band Under Graph was formed in 1999 in Osaka, Japan. The band was founded by vocalist/guitarist Naoto Matohara, guitarist Ryosuke Asa, bassist Kazuma Nakahara and drummer Naoko Taniguchi. Under Graph began performing locally but relocated to Tokyo in 2000. After building up an audience by playing live and issuing two independent singles, they signed with For Life Records. They released their first For Life single, “Tsubasa”, in 2004, which finally hit the Top Ten five months after it was released. It has become their best-loved track. The band then released their debut album, Zero e no Chowa, in 2005, which reached the upper region of the Japanese charts. They continued to release a series of hit singles including “Yubisaki kara Sekai Wo” (2006), “Mata Kaerukara” (2007) and many more. After a series of studio albums, they issued a collection – Under Graph (Single Best) – in 2010 to celebrate their first 10 years as a band. They have continued to release records, and tour, and they’ve recorded songs for Anime projects. The band is now a trio after the departure of Ryosuke Asa.
