American pianist and composer Uri Caine has built his career with one foot in jazz and the other in classical music. Since 1992 (when he released Sphere Music, a tribute to Monk), he has distinguished himself both by exploring the repertoires of the great composers (Bach, Schumann and above all Austrian Gustav Mahler) and by experimenting with modern jazz. He is responsible for the Bedrock jazz-fusion project ( Bedrock 3 album, 2002) and numerous collaborations with the most influential contemporary jazzmen, such as John Zorn and Dave Douglas.
