Vandenberg

Adrian Vandenberg formed the guitar-driven hard rock band Vandenberg in 1981, enjoying moderate success in the Netherlands during the 1980s before earning a pair of Top 5 releases with the band's reunion in the 2020s. Born on January 31, 1954, in The Hague, Netherlands, and formed Vandenberg in 1981, after moving to Amsterdam. The band signed with Atco Records and recorded its self-titled debut album, 1982's Vandenberg, at Jimmy Page's Sol Studios in Cookham, England. The album reached number 65 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Top 40 hit with the power ballad "Burning Heart," which peaked at number 39 in America. The album also charted at number 19 in the Netherlands, where the band's follow-up release, Heading for a Storm, reached number 14 in 1983. Vandenberg's third album, 1985's Alibi, climbed to number 18 on the Dutch charts and was followed by a hiatus, during which time Adrian Vandenberg joined the band Whitesnake and contributed the guitar solo to the band's chart-topping 1987 hit, "Here I Go Again." He continued collaborating with Whitesnake throughout the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, while also pursuing projects like Vandenberg's MoonKings, whose debut album was released in 2014. Now featuring a new lineup of musicians, he resurrected the Vandenberg name during the decade's final stretch and released 2020, the band's first album in 35 years, in 2020. 2020 was a success, hitting number 2 in the Netherlands and reigniting interest in the band. The Swedish vocalist Mats Levén joined the group one year later and appeared on Vandenberg's 2023 release, Sin, which charted at number 3 in the band's homeland.
