Born Vasiliki Karagiorgos on February 18, 1983, in Darwin, Northern Territory, Vassy, often stylized as VASSY, is an Australian singer, songwriter, and record producer. Developing an interest in dance music during her formative years, Vassy commenced her career as a DJ in the early 2000s, swiftly gaining recognition for her distinctive style and powerful vocals. In 2003, she earned widespread acclaim by winning Triple J’s Unearthed competition, subsequently signing with Warner Bros to release her debut album, My Affection, in 2005, featuring the lead single "Wanna Fly" signing with Ultra Records three years later, marking her U.S. debut with the 2010 single "History." Vassy's popularity soared through marketing collaborations with Google, Victoria's Secret, and Nike and in 2012, the singer unveiled the album Beautiful Day, seeing lead single "We Are Young" shoot straight to the top of the Billboard dance charts. The turning point in Vassy's career came however, with her 2014 collaboration with French DJ David Guetta on the track "Bad," which took the world by storm, charting in over 11 countries, and certified 2 x platinum. Showing no signs of slowing down, Vassy went on to release a string of Number 1 singles, including “Hustlin’” (2014), “Nothing to Lose” (with Tiësto) (2017), “Lost” (with Afrojack) (2017), “Doomsday” (2018), “Concrete Heart” (2019), “Chase” (2021), and “Pieces” (2022), solidifying her presence as a main act at major music festivals globally, including Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, Belgium’s Tomorrowland, New York’s Electric Zoo, and Australia’s Stereosonic. Returning in 2023, Vassy released non-album singles “Our Moment,” “Supreme,” and “Krazy,” with the latter making waves on the Billboard Top 40 Dance charts in November that year. With eight Number 1 Billboard singles and 17 platinum certifications, her contributions have left an indelible mark on the international music scene, solidifying her status as a notable Australian artist on the global stage.
