Vaundy Engawa, known as Vaundy, born on June 6, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese musician who gained attention in 2019 by dropping songs independently on video streaming platforms. He hit the mainstream radar in December of the same year with the track "Tokyo Flash" preceding his debut album, Strobo, which appeared in May the following year, peaking at number 5 on the Oricon Albums Chart. Album single, "Tomoshibi," became the theme for television drama Tokyo Love Story and Vaundy continued his music journey by releasing the EP Hadaka no Yuusha on February 23, 2022, with the title track used for the opening for the anime Ranking of Kings. He also teamed up with singer Ado for the song "Backlight," featured in the movie One Piece Film: Red. In September 2022, Vaundy performed two shows at the Nippon Budokan, dropping the ending theme for anime series Chainsaw Man, titled "Chainsaw Blood" a month later, which hit number 13 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. His year-end performance at the 73rd KÅhaku Uta Gassen elevated him to the second spot on the Billboard Japan Top Artists chart, with the featured song "Kaiju no Hanauta" climbing to number 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and earning him the Artist of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards, Japan. In July 2023, he announced his second studio album, Replica, set for release on November 15. The album landed at number 3 and 2 on the Oricon and Japanese Billboard charts respectively.
