Revealed at the age of 46, after a thirty-year life punctuated by concerts in the bars and cabarets of Côte d'Ivoire, Burkinabe singer Victor Démé, born in 1962, is gaining recognition outside the African continent. After three decades of musical wandering, Victor Démé released his first album of the same name. An album of folk-blues and Mandingo sounds, the fruit of a meeting and collaboration with Camille Louvel. The album crowned Victor Démé African Revelation of the Year 2008. 2010 saw the release of Deli, a second album recorded at home with his virtuoso friends. On September 21, 2015, the singer died suddenly of a malaria attack, aged 53. The third album he had just completed, Yafaké, was released posthumously the following month.
