The American R&B singer Vivian Green was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1979 and from an early age developed her interest in music through singing and piano lessons. Her first experience as a performer was as a member of an all-female vocal band called Younique. She launched her professional career as a member of the backing band for the platinum-selling singer Jill Scott with whom she toured extensively. Green's solo career began with the release of her debut album 'A Love Story' in 2002 and which spawned a trio of singles. The most successful single from the album was 'Emotional Rollercoaster' which provided the singer with her only top 40 hit of her career when it reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually went to number one in the US dance charts. After this initial success Green took a three-year hiatus from the music industry and gave birth to a son before resuming her career in 2005 with the release of her second album 'Vivian' in 2005. Her most recent recording has been the album 'VGVI' released in 2017.
