Vivid BAD SQUAD

Vivid BAD SQUAD is a virtual band from the Japanese video game Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE!. The game itself debuted in Japan in September 2020, introducing audiences to a colorful cast of characters. Included in that cast was Vivid BAD SQUAD, a fictional group of musicians rooted in hip-hop, pop, electronica, and street music. Featuring the virtual characters Kohane Azusawa, An Shiraish, Akito Shinonome, and Toya Aoyagi, Vivid BAD SQUAD debuted with the songs "Dr. = Funk Beat," "Ready Steady," and "Frazir," with the group continuing to release new material over the coming years as Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! grew in popularity. In 2021, the group released a debut album of original material, Ready Steady/Forward, as well as an album of cover songs, Vivid BAD SQUAD SEKAI ALBUM Vol.1. The two-sided single "Beat Eater / Awake Now" was released in 2022, followed in 2023 by "虚ろを扇ぐ / 仮死化," "月光 / 街," "ミライ / Flyer!," and "ひつじがいっぴき/下剋上." Despite the band's fictional status, many of Vivid BAD SQUAD's songs climbed the Japanese charts, with "Ready Steady" reached number 35 on Top 100 Singles Billboard, "Beat Eater/Awake Now" peaking at number 7 on Top 50 Oricon, "月光/街" reaching number 8 on Top 50 Oricon, and "ひつじがいっぴき/下剋上" debuting at number 9 on Top 50 Oricon.
