Vox Luminis

Founded in Namur (Belgium) in 2004 by Lionel Meunier, who became its permanent artistic director, and Francis Penning, the Vox Luminis vocal ensemble specializes in music from the 16th to 18th centuries. Several of its singers are graduates of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Renowned for its recordings, the ensemble performs throughout Europe, notably at festivals. Under contract to the Ricercar label, it made its first recording of Scarlatti's Stabat Mater in 2007, followed by Samuel Scheidt's Sacrae Cantiones (2010). In 2012, the ensemble won acclaim with its recording of Heinrich Schütz's Musicalische Exequien, named Recording of the Year, Baroque Vocal Work of the Year and International Classical Music Award by the English magazine Gramophone. Other recordings have won prizes such as the Diapason d'or and the Choc de Classica.
