Wilder Woods

Wilder Woods is the solo project of Bear Rinehart, the American singer/songwriter best known as the frontman of Needtobreathe. Born as "William Stanley Rinehart III" on September 6, 1980, he grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, where he earned the nickname "Bear" thanks to his athletic talent on the football field. Rinehart formed Needtobreathe in 2001, and the band found a wide audience of contemporary Christian music fans before breaking into the secular mainstream with 2009's gold-certified album The Outsiders. Needtobreathe's three subsequent albums were all Top 10 hits on the Billboard 200, as well as Number 1 successes on the Top Christian Albums chart. While continuing to write, record, and tour with the band, Rinehart launched a solo project in 2019. He called this solo endeavor "Wilder Woods," naming the project after his first two sons, Wilder and Woods Rinehart. A self-titled album, Wilder Woods, was released in 2019, introducing a neo-soul sound that contrasted with Needtobreathe's larger-than-live rock music. Three years later, Rinehart began working on a follow-up album for Wilder Woods, this time exploring a wider sound that touched upon R&B, heartland rock, and roots music. The result was 2023's FEVER / SKY. Released that spring, the album was preceded by the single "Maestro (Tears Don't Lie)," which debuted at Number 40 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart in America.
