Formed in 2007 in Detroit, Michigan, Will Sessions is a funk band comprised of Sam Beaubien (trumpet, keyboards), Bryan Arnold (drums), Jason Bonaquist (percussion), Tim Shellabarger (bass), Ryan Gimpert (guitar), Eric Kacir (percussion), Matt Martinez (trombone), Jimmy Smith (trumpet), and Justin Jozwiak (saxophone). The group name Will Sessions was originally the production pseudonym of trumpeter Sam Beaubien. Once he had learned keyboard, writing, and arranging skills, he decided to form a band, naming them after his pseudonym. The group became the house band at the monthly Motor City Funk Nights parties before releasing their 2008 debut album Many Faces. Will Sessions became one of the most popular live acts in Detroit and released a series of albus including Elmatic (2011), The Elmatic Instrumentals (2011), Mix Takes (2012), Deluxe (2017) and two albums with fellow Detroit musician Amp Fiddler: Kindred Live (2017) and The One (2018). Outside of their own recordings and live performances, Will Sessions has collaborated with artists such as Mayer Hawthorne, Slum Village, Eminem and Slaughter House, KRS-One, Toots & the Maytals, and many others.
