Wizo is a punk band from Germany founded in 1986. The founding members are singer Jochen Bix, guitarist Axel Kurth and bassist Jörn Genserowski. In 1988, the first demo tape Keiner ist kleiner was released. After Gute Freunde (1990), another demo tape, Wizo's debut album Für'n Arsch followed in 1991. In 1993, Wizo cover the Ace of Base hit "All that she wants". Wizo often appear on MTV with the video. In 1995, Wizo reached number 76 in the German charts with the album Herrénhandtasche. It then took over eight years before the next album Anderster (2004) was released. It would also be Wizo's last sign of life for a long time. The band disbanded in 2005. Singer Axel Kurth subsequently released a few songs under his pseudonym XLQ. At the end of 2009, Wizo reunited with a slightly different line-up. Thorsten Schwämmle now plucks the bass. Numerous concerts and festival appearances followed over the next few years. In 2014, new studio material is released with Punk gibt's nicht umsonst (Part III). The comeback album reaches number 29 in Germany. Just two years later, Wizo released DER. The longplayer reaches the top 20 of the charts in both Germany (number 11) and Austria (number 13). After that, it takes a while again until Nichts wird wieder gut (2023) is released. The album reaches number 51 in the German charts.
