Wolfheart is a Finnish melodic death metal band founded by Tuomas Saukkonen in Lahti in 2012. Tuomas Saukkonen decided to disband all his previous music projects - including Before the Dawn and Black Sun Aeon - to focus entirely on Wolfheart. The debut album Winterborn (2013) was released as a solo album by Tuomas Saukkonen, playing all the instruments himself. Later, Wolfheart developed into a full-fledged band. The current members of Wolfheart are Tuomas Saukkonen (vocals, guitar), Lauri Silvonen (bass, vocals), Joonas Kauppinen (drums) and Vagelis Karzis (guitar). The band is known for their unique style, which they themselves describe as "winter metal" - a mixture of melodic death metal, black metal and atmospheric elements. Their music is strongly inspired by nature and the Finnish landscape, which is reflected in their epic and dark sounds. Their best-known albums include Shadow World (2015), Tyhjyys (2017), and Wolves of Karelia (2020), which reached the Finnish album charts. Their album King of the North was released in 2022 and features the successful single "Ancestor", which featured Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage. Their next album Draconian Darkness will be released in 2024.
