Yelle

In 2005, the electro-dance-pop group Yelle gained notoriety thanks to their success on the MySpace social network. Breton singer Julie Budet, born January 17, 1983 in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, met amateur DJ Jean-François Perrier, aka GrandMarnier, in 2000, who became her partner and introduced her to rap and electronic music. Looking for a female voice for his musical projects, he finally got her to accept the idea of singing. The young woman adopted the pseudonym YEL, an acronym for You Enjoy Life, before adding the ending "LE " to feminize it. Thanks to the track "Je veux te voir" in 2006, Yelle racked up hits on MySpace, and was noticed by Michaël Youn, who asked her to duet with him on Fatal Bazooka's single "Parle à ma main". Yelle released her debut album Pop Up in 2007, a blend of rap, synthpop and electro, and opened for Mika on his tour, before making an unprecedented breakthrough in the U.S., performing at the prestigious Coachella festival and successfully remixing Katy Perry's hit "Hot N Cold ". It wasn't until 2011, with the release of Safari Disco Club, that Yelle's discography was enriched by a new chapter. Yelle then embarked on an international tour that took in the USA and Europe, as well as Japan, Australia and Latin America. A third album, Complètement Fou, was released in 2014. Several singles came to prominence in the following years, including "Ici & Maintenant (Here & Now)" in 2016, and "Interpassion" and "Roméo " in 2017. In 2020, the tracks "Je t'aime encore" and "Karaté" are the preamble to a new album, L'Ère du Verseau.
