Formed in 1998, Yerba Brava are an Argentine cumbia act from Buenos Aires which was formed as a socially responsible group to assist and spread awareness to help those living in poverty and who are discriminated against in South America. Their debut album, 'Cumbia Villera', was released in 2000 and was received extremely well, leading to the group touring and performing across the continent. Success continued with their track 'La Cumbia De Los Rapos' being sung from the stands at South American football stadia, and a special recording was made exclusively for the 2011 Copa America tournament. Despite several regular member changes and numerous controversies, Yerba Brava have continued to go from strength to strength, and have released several full-length albums, as well as a live DVD documenting the group's success over their first decade.
