Yu Yingxia (born on October 23, 1983), better known as Yisa Yu, is a Chinese Mandopop singer who rose to prominence after participating in the 2009 season of TV singing competition Super Girl. Hailing from Chengdu, Sichuan, Yingxia studied English at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and started taking part in singing competitions around that time. After getting her degree, she began singing in bars and auditioned for Super Girl three times before making the cut in 2009. A solid fourth spot in the contest exposed Yingxia to a wider audience and prompted a subsequent record deal with Rock Records, who released Blue Shorts, her debut album, in 2010. She followed up with Add a Little Happiness (2011) and Lost Love (2012), whose lead single “Happiness is hard” was featured on the film version of Taiwanese drama The Fierce Wife. Warm Water arrived in 2014 and fifth album 00:00 saw the light two years later. Praises and accolades ensued for Walking by the World, the singer’s sixth album, which earned the Single of the Year award at the 22nd Chinese Musicians Exchange Association for its title track.
