Yolanda Be Cool are an Australian music duo composed of Andrew Stanley and Matthew Handley. Formed in 2009, they achieved worldwide fame almost immediately with their 2010 single “We No Speak Americano.” The track, which sampled the 1950s Neapolitan hit “Tu vuò fà l'americano,” hit the top of the charts in the UK, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, and Sweden as it racked up 200 million views on the group’s video streaming channel. The single also earned them two nominations for the 2010 Aria Awards in the categories of Best Dance Release and Most Popular Australian Single. Preceded by the Crystal Waters collaboration “Le Bump,” their studio debut Ladies and Mentalmen saw the light in 2013 and featured guest spots by Gurrumul, Barbara Tucker, and Betty Wright. In 2014, they dropped a remix of Rodriguez’s “Sugar Man” that went platinum in their native Australia and hit Number 11 on the Belgian charts with the 2015 single “Soul Makossa,” which sampled Manu Dibango’s 1972 hit. The duo delivered a second LP titled Je Suis Music in 2016 and remained active in the electronic music scene with the singles “Hacia La Noche” (2017), “Dance and Chant” (2018), “Space Jam” (2019), and “No More Sorrow” (2020).
