The K-pop singer YooA launched her career in 2015 as a member of Oh My Girl, a South Korean girl group whose first two EPs, Oh My Girl and Closer, both cracked the Gaon Album Chart's Top 10 that same year. Born as Yoo Yeon-joo on September 17, 1995, she grew up in Seoul and later changed her name to Yoo Si-ah, adopting the YooA stage name after joining Oh My Girl's lineup. Catering to both the Korean and Japanese markets, YooA released a flurry of successful EPs, albums, and singles during the second half of the 2010s, then climbed to the top of the K-Pop Hot 100 with the platinum-certified song "Nonstop" in 2020. YooA maintained a healthy presence outside of the group, too, starring in the dance TV competition Hit The Stage in 2016 and releasing "Morning Call," her debut single as a solo artist, in May 2018. Although "Morning Call" failed to chart, YooA cracked the Top 40 with her follow-up solo single, "Bon Voyage," which climbed to Number 16 on the K-Pop Hot 100 in 2020. An EP of the same name was released that September and charted at Number 3, making YooA the most successful member of Oh My Girl's roster. Bon Voyage also earned YooA a nomination for "Artist of the Year" at the 2021 Gaon Chart Music Awards. After releasing Selfish in 2022, YooA the single album Borderline in March 2024, debuting at number 20 on South Korea's Top 100 Albums chart.
