Young Scooter

A rapper with a raw, authentic style that came from the streets, Kenneth Edward Bailey aka Young Scooter died in 2025. Born in Walterboro, South Carolina, on March 28, 1986, he grew up in Atlanta and became acquainted with Future, who encouraged him to pursue a career after an arrest for drug trafficking in 2008. He went on to release a string of mixtapes, including Plug Talkin, Finessin' & Flexin' (2011) and the acclaimed Street Lottery in 2013, featuring his single "Colombia". His raw, coded language, slow flow and dark ambiences attract the attention of his peers and gangsta rap fans alike. He frequently collaborates with his friends Future and Gucci Mane or Waka Flocka Flame and records on their labels Freebandz, Brick Squad Monopoly and 1017 Records. In 2018, he collaborated on Juice Wrld's track "Jet Lag", his only appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 (#2). He makes around twenty mixtapes, including Juggathon (2015) and Zaystreet (2020) with Zaytoven, Trap Hero in 2018, Streetz Krazy in 2023, Trap's Last Hope in 2024 and Fast Lane Juggin in 2025. On March 28, 2025, his 39th birthday, he tried to escape from the police after a domestic dispute, injuring himself while trying to climb over a fence, before being pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
