Colombian singer, songwriter and percussionist Yuri Buenaventura (born Yuri Bedoya in 1961) has retained from his Parisian humanities a passion for French chanson, which led to his successful 1996 cover of Jacques Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" (certified gold disc). His next five albums received rave reviews in France, making him the most French of salsa singers. He performed duets with Faudel, Berry and Olivia Ruiz, and wrote the music for the film Ma femme s'appelle Maurice (2001). In 2004, his third album Vagabundo featured Cuban rap group Orishas. A lover of the visual arts, Yuri Buenaventura spaced out his musical activities. In 2009, he released Cita Con la Luz, followed by Salsa Fever in 2013. In 2015, Paroles adapts French songs to salsa and includes a duet with Zaz.
