Yves Jamait

French songwriter, guitarist and performer Yves Jamait was born in Dijon (Côte-d'Or) on October 28, 1961. An apprentice cook, he held a number of jobs while practicing the guitar and writing his first songs. In 1998, at the age of 37, he decided to devote himself to music and formed the group De Verre en Vers, which performed in concert and released a homonymous album in 2003, credited to the name of guitarist and singer Jamait. Signed to the Wagram label, the Jamait group went on to record the album Coquelicot (2006) and embark on a nationwide tour that included performances at Le Zénith in Dijon, Le Casino de Paris and L'Olympia. In the tradition of chanson réaliste with accordion, Yves Jamait claims to have a retro feel. His third album, Je Passais par Hasard, released in 2008, went gold, and was followed by a bar tour featuring guest artists, resulting in the live recording Yves Jamait en Concert (2009). After a stint in New York and another performance at Le Zénith in Dijon, the album Saison 4, featuring a duet with Zaz, is released in 2011. An artist virtually absent from the media sphere, Yves Jamait celebrates another gold disc with the album Amor Fati (2013) and welcomes two members of the group Tryo, Emmanuel Eveno and Daniel Bravo, as well as Sanseverino for the following Je Me Souviens (2015), succeeded by Je Me Souviens... Le Concert (2017). Released in 2018, the seventh album Mon Totem is the subject of a tour, summarized in the public collection Au Tour de Mon Totem (2019). A new live recording, Parenthèse 2 (2021), is released before the 2022 release of the studio opus L'Autre, ranked No. 38 in sales and listens in France.
