Zaho

Algerian pop singer Zaho was born Zahera Darabid in Bab Ezzouar, Algeria in 1980. As a child she was influenced by the French blues singer Francis Cabrel and practised the guitar by learning much of Cabrel's material. When she was 18 she relocated with her family to Montreal, Canada and at the age of 25 turned professional. In 2006 she released the single 'Hey Papi' with the French rapper Saïd M'Roumbaba, better known by his stage name Soprano. Although the track failed to chart her follow-up single 'C'est Chelou' reached the top 20 in the Belgium charts. The track was the lead single of her 2008 debut album 'Dima' and the interest created by the hit single helped the album reach number 36 in Belgium and number eleven in France. The second single from the album was a collaboration with another French rap artist, Tunisiano with whom she released the track 'La Roue Tourne'.
