Adept in various instruments including the guitar and piano and often found playing her own accompaniments, Indonesian singer Ziva Magnolya (born March 13th, 2001 in Jakarta) unsuccessfully tried her luck at numerous talent competitions in her home country including Popstar and I Can See Your Voice Indonesia before making strides in 2019 as a contestant on Indonesian Idol. Aged just eighteen at the time, she had put out just one single prior to her appearance in the show, an EDM cover of Nathan Sykes’ “Over and Over Again” released via STARVOICES. Continuing to demonstrate her penchant for English-language covers over the course of the series, she tackled songs by the likes of Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande as well as Indonesian-language hits, reaching third place in the competition. In 2020, she inked a major-label deal with Universal Music Indonesia, with whom she promptly released her first three original singles: “Tak Sanggup Melupa”, “Mata-Mata Harimu” and “Sampai Kapan”. With lyrics provided by some of her country’s most accomplished songwriters including Yovie Widianto of Yovie & Nuno and Anindyo "Nino" Baskoro of RAN, she soon amassed millions of streams on the three songs. In November 2020, she teamed up with an all-star cast of her Indonesian Idol contemporaries including Lyodra and Tiara Andini on the stirring, patriotic “Indonesia Jaya”, an ensemble rendition of the country's national anthem.
