Born in Abington, Pennsylvania on June 2, 1986, singer, guitarist, and songwriter Zsuzsanna Eva Ward aka ZZ Ward has made a name for herself in the American blues scene. She began her musical career after moving with her family to Oregon and joining her father's band when she was just 12 years old. After moving to Los Angeles, she was discovered by impresario Evan Bogart, better known as E. Kidd Bogart and whose list of past artists includes Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Beyoncé. Under Bogart's guidance, ZZ Ward released their debut album Til the Casket Drops in 2012 and it was met with positive critical reception spawning three hit singles, including "365 Days" which peaked at number 28 on the US Adult Chart and reached number four on the Alternative Singles Chart. Following the growing interest in Ward's music, the artist appeared as the opening act for Eric Clapton in 2014, which allowed her to become known to the rock and blues audience. Signed by the Hollywood Records label, she then recorded the EP Love and War (2015), then the album The Storm (2017), which reached number one on the blues charts, thanks to the title "Ride", with Gary Clark, Jr., featured on the soundtrack of the film Cars 3. In 2021, the singer returned to her status as an independent artist and created her own label Dirty Shine Records, under which she released the album Dirty Shine (2023) and its five singles. Still appreciated by critics, she followed up with the EP Mother (2024), carried by her warm and raspy voice.
